Today, February 14, 2023, Louis Vuitton, a subsidiary of LVMH, has announced that the musical artist and style icon Pharrell Williams will be the new men’s creative director of the brand. Williams succeeds the late Virgil Abloh, who was the men’s artistic director for the French fashion’s house for the last 4 years before his death. Over the past 20 years, the multi-talented entertainer and producer has proven himself to be a force not only within the music industry but also within the fashion industry. The 49 year-old creative has created timeless trends in the streetwear community. This isn’t Williams first venture with the international luxury brand. He had partnered with Louis Vuitton twice before—in 2004 and 2008. He’s also done collabs with Moncler, Adidas, Moncler, G-Star Raw and Uniqlo. In 2003, Williams co-founded Billionaire Boys Club with A Bathing Ape founder Nigo (who is now the creative director at Kenzo, another fashion brand within the LVMH conglomerate). He’s also branched out into skincare with his brand Humanrace and hospitality with the South Beach hotel Goodtime.
“I am glad to welcome Pharrell back home, after our collaborations in 2004 and 2008 for Louis Vuitton, as our new Men’s Creative Director. His creative vision beyond fashion will undoubtedly lead Louis Vuitton towards a new and very exciting chapter,” declares Pietro Beccari, Louis Vuitton’s Chairman and CEO.
Williams’ debut collection will be shown during Men’s Fashion Week in Paris this June. We’re excited to see what the talented visionary brings to Louis Vuitton Men’s.
