*After over 30 years since they went their separate ways, Prince Paul has reunited with De La Soul. As expected, rumors already have it that they might be planning to work on some new hits together.

Prince Paul was previously seen in the studio with the New York trio back in August. The esteemed producer did not explain what is going on when he was reached for comment, merely saying, “I’ve been sworn to secrecy.”

Maseo, one of the De La Soul members, also refused to speak about the reunion. But Prince Paul has shared nothing but joy after he reunited with the group. Taking to Instagram, he said the reunion was long overdue.

“This might have been one of the most eventful years I’ve had in quite some time,” read the post. “An unsuspected highlight was the opportunity to revisit and work on De La Soul once again. I really want to thank them for believing in me once more to get the job done…I want to thank everyone who was involved in helping us make this project a reality. Everybody who I called on to participate or get advice from.”

Prince Paul produced three of De La Soul’s most successful albums: 1989’s “3 Feet High and Rising,” 1991’s “De La Soul Is Dead,” and 1993’s “Buhloone Mindstate.”

However, the trio opted to self-produce their fourth album, “Stakes Is High,” released in 1996. They got some help from J Dilla, Skeff Anslem, and Spearhead X, among others.

In 2012, Paul stated in an interview that partying ways with the trio before “Stakes Is High” came out was best for his relationship with them.

“That goes back to us parting ways. I knew we would be better apart than together, and I didn’t want to lose friendships,” he explained. “We’ve always been cool. Whether it was equipment or about the music business at the time – which looking back was really nothing – and everything else, it was just so they could develop themselves as individuals.”

De La Soul’s recent album came out in 2016 and is titled “And The Anonymous Nobody.” It featured a host of stars, such as  Snoop Dogg, Estelle, Usher, Little Dragon, 2 Chainz, Talking Heads’ David Byrne, Gorillaz frontman Damon Albarn, and more. The album reached No. 12 on the Billboard 200. It was also nominated for a Grammy Award in the Best Rap Album category at the 2017 ceremony.
