Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, celebrated the induction of 12 distinguished individuals into its Alpha Omega Chapter as Honorary Members during a historic ceremony held at Howard University on September 19, 2023. Among these extraordinary individuals is Roslyn Young-Daniels, a passionate advocate and the President and Founder of BLACK HEALTH MATTERS, an organization dedicated to educating and uplifting communities on various health topics.

Roslyn Young-Daniels’ journey in the realm of health advocacy and education is marked by a relentless dedication to improving the well-being of African American communities. As the President and Founder of BLACK HEALTH MATTERS (BHM), she has leveraged her extensive experience as a marketing executive in television and publishing to bring essential health and wellness information to the African American community.

For over a decade, BHM has served as a leading communications company, reaching over 500,000 people annually through various platforms, including web resources, video content, social media engagement, and educational events, both virtual and in-person. Ms. Young-Daniels’ vision for BHM is rooted in the goal of creating better health outcomes for African Americans by providing direct access to top physicians, health companies, and leading health experts.

One of her significant achievements is the creation of the Black Health Matters Summit, a multi-platform event featuring live Ted Talk-inspired presentations by leading clinicians and health advocates. This initiative has empowered communities with essential health knowledge and promoted active discussions on vital health topics.

Young-Daniels has also extended her advocacy into partnerships with organizations such as the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., launching the Precision Oncology program to raise awareness about diseases, including prostate cancer, that disproportionately affect African American men.

In addition to her groundbreaking work, Ms. Young-Daniels conceived and implemented two vital programs that were adopted by the National Medical Association (NMA). The Prescription for Exercise program encourages physicians and patients to discuss the benefits of consistent physical activity in managing over 40 of the most common chronic health conditions. The NMA Breastfeeding Medicine Alliance was designed to increase breastfeeding rates for the optimal health of mothers and babies, impacting over 3 million patients annually.

Young-Daniels is widely recognized as a thought leader in health content and has received numerous awards, including the Digital Diversity Network’s Social Entrepreneur Award, Whole Woman Award, and the New Jersey Health Heroes Award. Her contributions have also been acknowledged in publications such as the Wall Street Journal’s Market Watch.

Beyond her professional achievements, Ms. Young-Daniels is actively engaged in her community, serving as a member of the Links, Inc., an Associates Member of Jack and Jill of America, and contributing to the Health Ministry at Abyssinian Baptist Church.

As an Honorary Member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, Roslyn Young-Daniels is poised to align her passion for health advocacy with the organization’s initiatives, including the American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, Mental Health Awareness, Zetas Have Heart, and the support of Zeta Phi Beta youth auxiliary groups.

The inclusion of Young-Daniels into the Alpha Omega Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, not only celebrates her remarkable achievements in health advocacy but also reinforces the organization’s commitment to promoting education, awareness, and empowerment within communities. Ms. Young-Daniels’ legacy as a champion for health and wellness is poised to inspire and drive progress within Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., as it continues to uphold its principles of Scholarship, Service, Sisterhood, and Finer Womanhood.

We at Watch The Yard would like to warmly welcome Roslyn Young-Daniels to Black greekdom.
