Consequences are something that most people in positions of power don’t really consider because, as the old adage goes, “Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely.” People who believe that they wield authority over others rarely consider that they will be held accountable for the damage that they do. However, every now and then, they are reminded that the clock ticks for everybody, and the scales tip both ways.

Donald Trump’s former lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, was found guilty of defaming two Black women from Georgia who worked the polls during the 2016 presidential election, Ruby Freeman and her daughter Wandrea “Shaye” Moss. As a result, the former mayor of New York City was ordered to pay the ladies $146 million in restitution. According to new reporting from NBC News, Giuliani appeared in court this past Tuesday and became very irate with U.S. District Judge Lewis Liman, who is presiding over the case. This quote is going to make your cold heart sing:

“The implications you are making against me are wrong. I have no car, no credit card, no cash, everything I have is tied up. They have put stop orders on my business accounts, and I can’t pay my bills.”

Aw, poor thing. You should have thought about that before slandering Black women on behalf of your orange zaddy, who doesn’t even claim you broke a** anymore.
