Shannon Sharpe addressed the recent disastrous episode of ‘Nightcap’ with Chad Ochocino and allegations of pulling a ‘Skip Bayless’.
Over the weekend, Shannon Sharpe and Chad Ochocinco’s podcast ‘Nightcap‘ underwent several technical difficulties. During the episode, Sharpe complained several times about feedback in his ear and insisted it was his team’s fault. At one point he became irritated yelled “GODDAMN IT” slapped the microphone away and refused to talk.
Later another clip would go viral on social media of Sharpe scolding Ochocinco over his tardiness. Allegedly Chad’s preference of not using the Car service caused the wait which didn’t sit right with Sharpe.
Ocho was fairly tranquil letting Shannon’s passive-aggressive energy slide while explaining his transport locked his keys in the car.
Sunday night the duo of Unc and Ochocinco returned to the air and Unc saw all the tweets accusing him of treating his co-host how Skip Bayless did him. Shannon kicked off the show by describing how he initially blamed his studio team for the technical difficulties it may have been him.
He revealed the feedback in his ear was the live video of him that somehow switched over into his earpiece.
“So that’s what I was hearing playing back in my ear. So it wasn’t anything, it wasn’t like a malfunction, somehow the audio had clicked on on the video that was playing.” Sharpe admitted. “So I could hear that back in my ear. So that was nothing that people back in the studio was doing.” he continued. “That was no fault of their own, that was just something that had just all of a sudden happened and it just took us a minute to figure out.”
Sharpe then addressed the backlash for how he handled his co-host Ochocinco after many felt he pulled a Skip Bayless-like move. However, Sharpe seemingly shrugged it off illustrating it was to push for greatness, unlike Bayless.
“And then guys, look, there’s been a lot said, well, you trying to do the Ocho, what Skip did to you, blah, blah, blah.” Shannon said addressing social media chatter. “No, what I am gonna do is that l’m gonna push, l’m gonna pull, l’m gonna drag Ocho to a level that he didn’t think he could get to.”
While Shannon had good intentions he should have known social media would have had strong opinions, especially after he handled the technical situation poorly. However, as long as Chad is ok and has no ill sentiments that’s all that matters. Everyone has off days on the job but most aren’t live-streaming to their fanbase of over a million people.
