Skai Jackson’s boyfriend, Deondre Burgin, who fans have previously referred to as “Kelaia” or “Yerkky Yerkky” was arrested this week in Cincinnati, Ohio, just one day after the actress revealed she was pregnant with her first child. Burgin, who had already been having a rough week, also came under fire online after making a disrespectful comment about Jackson’s late Jessie co-star, Cameron Boyce.
According to TMZ, Burgin was arrested Nov. 13 in the afternoon after a confrontation with police. He was reportedly served with a juvenile parole violation warrant but attempted to flee when confronted by officers. During the chase, Burgin fell, suffering a small cut on his left cheek.
A video of the arrest, which was shared by Pop Flop, shows Burgin falling to the ground as police struggled to subdue him. Officers were seen wrestling with him on the sidewalk before finally pinning him down and waiting for backup. Law enforcement sources told TMZ that Burgin was cited for misdemeanor obstruction of official business and was released shortly after.
Burgin Caught Heat For Disrespecting Late Jessie Star Cameron Boyce
In addition to the arrest, Burgin faced backlash for an insensitive remark about Skai Jackson’s co-star Cameron Boyce, who tragically passed away in July 2019 at the age of 20 due to a seizure caused by epilepsy. On the same day as his arrest, a video surfaced on social media showing Burgin, also known as “Yerkky Yerkky,” making a derogatory comment about Boyce, who played the beloved Luke Ross on the hit Disney show.
While smoking in front of the camera, Burgin snapped at viewers, saying;
“That n**gga in this [Back]wood right now. Stop comparing [me]to a dead n—a… Is y’all cool?”
He added:
“What the f–k? Y’all keeping comparing me to a n—a that’s dead.”
The comment quickly went viral on X (formerly Twitter), sparking further criticism from fans who found his words disrespectful, particularly given the late actor’s tragic passing.
“Yeah, he doing too much!”
Another user wrote:
“Not Cameron…NOT CAMERON.”
A third person commented:
“Skai will now have to re-think her relationship status. This was disrespectful. Her baby daddy didn’t have to say that much. #SkaiJackson.”
A fourth added:
“You know those movies where the rich family pays the bf off to disappear forever? I’m not saying anyone should do that but…”
Skai Jackson Is Expecting Her First Child
As previously reported, Jackson is pregnant with her first child.
The 22-year-old star shared the exciting news with PEOPLE in an exclusive interview on Nov. 12, expressing that she was “thrilled” to be welcoming her first kid into the world soon.
“I’m thrilled to begin this new chapter in my life — embracing motherhood and diving into new acting projects. My heart is so full!” said the star, who took several fashionable photos sporting her cute baby bump for her exclusive.
According to PEOPLE, Jackson will be raising her upcoming bundle of joy on her own, though she’ll have the support of her mother, Kiya Cole, who also raised her as a single parent. While Jackson has not confirmed whether Burgin is the father of her baby, she did publicly defend him last month when his X account was reportedly hacked.
The “hacker” posted a message that insulted Jackson, calling her a “dumb a** Disney Channel b***h” and saying, “I hate this h*e.” In response, Jackson, along with her mother, stepped up to defend Burgin, claiming that his account had been compromised and that the offensive messages were not from him.
