Stephen A. Smith Confirms ESPN Is In Talks With Shannon Sharpe

Stephen A. Smith is confirming the ongoing rumors that ESPN is in talks with Shannon Sharpe.

After Shannon Sharpe made a clean break from Skip Bayless and FS1’s Undisputed with a buyout, several business-savvy people alleged that it was because the hall-of-Famer was in talks with Disney and ESPN.

Now it looks like those rumors could be true as ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith is offering up alleged details.

According to Deadline, the First Take host alleged that executives are in talks to bring Sharpe on board and they bringing out all the stops to make it happen.

“I want Shannon Sharpe on First Take and I aim to get him,” said Stephen A. Smith on his podcast while revealing that ESPN execs are in negotiations with Sharpe. “We are definitely talking to Shannon Sharpe. The conversations are official, the reports have not been misnomers or misreports or anything like that. We are talking to him and I’m hopeful, very hopeful, very confident that ultimately we will be announcing sooner than later that he will be on First Take.”

Smith issued the disclaimer that the final decision ultimately isn’t up to him. Amid Stephen A. Smith’s statement,  Shannon Sharpe joined in on the conversation on Twitter.
