SZA’s new album “SOS” has made her the first woman with an R&B album to hold No. 1 on the Billboard 200 for four consecutive weeks since Janet Jackson’s 1993 — “Janet” which ruled from June 5-July 10, 1993.

The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week “based on multi-metric consumption as measured in equivalent album units,” compiled by Luminate.

“SOS” had the equivalent of 125,000 sales in the U.S. last week amid the holiday season, according to Billboard.

Further, that total included 162 million streams, according to Luminate, the tracking service and about 3,000 copies sold, as a complete package.

“SOS”  was also noted to rack up four weeks of R&B by a woman-like songstress, Alicia Keys’ 2007, “As I Am.”

Other songs on the Billboard 200 include Taylor Swift who holds steadfast at No. 2 with “Midnights.”
Rap producer Metro Boomin ranked at No. 3 with “Heroes & Villains” and Drake and 21 Savage’s “Her Loss” came in at  No. 4 with Bad Bunny’s “Un Verano Sin Ti” in fifth place.

“SOS” becomes SZA’s first No. 1 album. After a  five-year hiatus, SZA’s second and highly anticipated album  is among one of the five highest album debuts of 2022. Spending its fourth week as it is now No. 1 on the Billboard 200 charts it also surpassed Beyoncè’s “Renaissance.”
