The CFDA Awards, also known as the Council of Fashion Designers of America Awards, happened last night in New York City. Established in 1981, the CFDA Awards have become one of the most prestigious honors in the fashion world. The night becomes the 2nd biggest night in fashion following the Met Gala. The awards ceremony recognizes designers, models, stylists, and other industry professionals who have significantly contributed to the fashion landscape. Categories include Womenswear Designer of the Year, Menswear Designer of the Year, Accessory Designer of the Year and Emerging Designer of the Year which was won by Rachel Scott of Diotima. These awards highlight the talent, creativity, and innovation within the fashion industry.
Our fave Serena Williams pulled up to the award show to accept her Fashion Icon award. When winning such a prestigious award, showing up in custom Thom Browne is the only option. She joins Beyonce, Rihanna and Zendaya as recipients of the award.
The CFDA Awards also serve as a platform for designers to showcase their latest collections. Many attendees—including celebrities, fashion influencers, and industry insiders— use this event to make bold fashion statements. The red carpet at the CFDA Awards is known for its glamorous and avant-garde fashion choices with attendees often wearing designs from the nominated or winning designers. Last night we saw some of our favorite celebrities hit the red carpet like EBONY Cover Star Teyana Taylor, legendary stylist and creative director June Ambrose and Lori Harvey to name a few.
The CFDA Awards not only celebrate the accomplishments of designers and industry professionals but also serve as a platform for fostering creativity, collaboration, and innovation within the fashion world. The event brings together a diverse range of talents, creating opportunities for networking, inspiration and the exchange of ideas.
