*When Deion Sanders became the head football coach at Jackson State University, he also became the leader of a movement.
How many other Black, former NFL pro ballers would coach at a Black college, and attract more top-tier Black players to HBCUs instead of watching them win for predominantly white universities? Could Sanders be the catalyst for other icons to do the same?
And since Sanders said GOD sent him to JSU, people naturally expected him to stay longer than three years! But when you’re seen as the leader of a movement – then you make a personal decision that seems not in line with the movement – some people feel betrayed by that! Are they just haters? Did Coach Sanders do more in 3 years for HBCU’s than most Black college graduates do in a lifetime to support their alma maters?
