Chadwick Boseman – Black Panther
*Following the death in 2020 of Chadwick Boseman, who played T’Challa in the Marvel movie “Black Panther,” many fans have always feared his character might not be recast in the subsequent sequels. Their fears have finally been confirmed: there will no more be T’Challa, at least in the “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.”
T’Challa’s character has been laid to rest, just like the cast member who first played it. Many Black Panther fans had hoped that someone else would take over as T’Challa, but that is not the case.
Instead, “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” shows that Shuri will be the new Black Panther. The ‘Recast T’Challa’ movement gathered steam way back in 2020 when movie YouTuber E-Man started championing the retention of the character Chadwick Boseman played.
The movement argued that Marvel Studios should have waited longer before deciding that Boseman would be replaced. Marvel made the decision roughly four months after Boseman’s death — something that didn’t sit well with his fans. But it’s also important that Marvel was moving quickly so that the “Black Panther” sequel release schedule is not affected.

Shuri as Black Panther – Marvel
T’Challa’s character had what it takes to be one of the studio’s most popular heroes in the new era. While Spider-Man, Batman and Superman dominated the world of superheroes, MCU still managed to bring in Iron Man, Captain America and Thor to list.
The “Black Panther” was on its way to the list of superheroes, considering its unmatched success.
Shuri as Black Panther – Marvel
In related news, apparently, moviegoers don’t have a problem with Shuri replacing T’Challa s the Black Panther. The follow-up to the first film, “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” continued to be a crowd-pleaser, topping this weekend’s box office with $17.6 million from 3,855 locations.
“Wakanda Forever,” as The Hollywood Reporter notes, has now earned an impressive $394 million domestically to pass up fellow 2022 superhero pics “The Batman” ($369 million) and “Thor: Love and “Thunder” ($343 million). It is also the first film since “Spider-Man: No Way Home” to stay No. 1 for four consecutive weekends. Overseas, the Marvel superhero sequel, directed by Ryan Coogler, added $20.2 million to its coffers for a foreign tally of $339 million and $733 million globally.
