Tory Lanez was sentenced to 10 years for shooting Megan Thee Stallion.

Lanez, real name Daystar Peterson was sentenced inside the Criminal Justice Center on Tuesday (August 8). The sentence comes nearly three years after Lanez shot Megan in the foot following a night of partying in the Hollywood Hills on July 12, 2020.

Back in December, Lanez was charged with 3 felony counts – assault with a semiautomatic firearm, having a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle and discharging a firearm with gross negligence.

On Tuesday, he was sentenced to 6 years for count 1, and 4 years for the enhancement to be served consecutively. He was sentenced to 2 years for count 2 to be served concurrently and 2 years for count 3 to be stayed.

Before handing down his sentence Judge Herriford said “actions have consequences and there are no winners in this case.”

Prosecutors had sought a 13-year sentence for Lanez, arguing that he lacked remorse and exhibited callousness and cruelty when he unloaded his firearm five times at Megan.

Herriford granted Lanez credit for the 305 days he’s already served and also noted that he will only serve 85 percent of the sentence time.

Before sentencing, Lanez spoke for the first time addressing Judge Herriford for nearly 12 minutes pleading his case and asking for a second chance.

“If I could turn back the series of events that night and change them, I would,” Lanez said.

He also addressed Megan saying regardless of what she thinks of me we were friends. On Monday, the prosecution read a victim impact statement from Megan. In it she said she could not bring herself to be in the same room as Tory and said he tried to destroy “my character and my soul.”

Lanez’ attorney Jose Baez addressed the media outside of the courthouse and expressed his disappointment with the sentence. He also said they will be filing an appeal and doubled down on Lanez’ innocence.
