Media mogul Tyler Perry has announced the first series under his new multi-year first-look series deal with Netflix. The new arrangement with Netflix extends his exclusive film deal with Netflix in October 2023.

Perry, who was named on Forbes’ list of “World’s 10 Highest-Paid Entertainers” for the second year running in 2023, is an American actor, filmmaker, and playwright.
In October, Perry secured a first-look deal with Netflix for feature films, following his deal with Amazon Studios to write four features for Prime Video.
To date, Perry’s upcoming projects with Netflix include “Six Triple Eight” starring Kerry Washington and “Mea Culpa” featuring Kelly Rowland.
His previous works with Netflix include “A Jazzman’s Blues,” “A Madea Homecoming,” and the thriller “A Fall from Grace,” which also gained significant attraction.
In addition to his work with streaming platforms, Perry maintains a partnership with BET.
His deal with the company, formerly known as Viacom and initiated in 2017, has produced series like “Sistas,” now in its seventh season; “The Oval,” in its fifth season; and “Ruthless,” in its fourth season.
He also contributes to Nickelodeon with the show “Young Dylan.”
Beauty In Black
Perry’s new series with Netflix, “Beauty in Black,” is a 16-episode drama series that he will write, direct, and produce.
The series focuses on the lives of two women – Kimmie, striving to make ends meet after being kicked out by her mother, and Mallory, a successful business owner.
According to AfroTech, the show will likely explore facets of the Black community and bring to light conversations about Black and brown representation in film and television.
Perry is producing the series alongside Angi Bones -President of Original Programming at Tyler Perry Studios, and Tony Strickland – Executive Vice President of Studio Production and Operations.
