Beyoncé’s country music album is drawing praise at even the highest ranks of society, including the government.

Count none other than Vice President Kamala Harris among those lauding Queen Bey for taking her musical career where many never imagined it going.

Beyoncé: Thank you for reminding us to never feel confined to other people’s perspective of what our lane is. You have redefined a genre and reclaimed country music’s Black roots.

Your music continues to inspire us all.

Though she has been trolled by country fans who doubted Beyoncé, Mrs. Carter is the first Black woman to top Billboard’s country chart.Harris wasn’t the only prominent voice weighing in. Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer also shared a clip of herself with country boots-clad feet on her desk.

Of course, there was the predictable backlash from other country music fans who thought what the vice president tweeted was “hilariously dumb.”

The Beyoncé Backlash from country fans

David Hookstead, on OutKick.com, weighed in with a post headlined “Kamala Harris Sends Stupid Tweet About Beyonce’s Country Music Album, Is Completely Wrong,” in which he proceeds to say the following:

“Did Johnny Cash never exist? Did outlaw country just disappear? Country music has gone through many different eras, but whatever Beyonce’s music is certainly isn’t one of them. Country music as a genre has had some consistent themes for decades: The struggle of rural American life, the love of the USA, heartbreak, having a great dog, violence, drinking and more themes are consistently found in country music.”

Hookstead also said of the album, “It’s not good. It’s not good at all, in my humble opinion. I’m not even sure how to describe it, but whatever it is, it’s damn sure not country music. You’re free to disagree (let me know at [email protected]), but I think many country music fans will agree.”
