*Serena Williams was recently been baptized as a Jehovah’s Witness.
The global superstar was raised as a Jehovah’s Witness by her family, Sportskeeda reports. Her recent baptism took place at the Jehovah’s Witness Assembly in West Palm Beach, Florida, according to the report.
“Being a Jehovah’s Witness is important to me, but I’ve never really practiced it and have been wanting to get into it. Alexis didn’t grow up going to any church, but he’s really receptive and even takes the lead. He puts my needs first,” said Williams during an interview with Vogue in 2017, Yardbarker reports.

Williams noted previously that her religious beliefs also extend to her child. In 2018, the tennis champ said she would not be hosting birthday parties for her daughter Olympia.
“Olympia doesn’t celebrate birthdays,” Williams said. “We’re Jehovah’s Witnesses, so we don’t do that.”
As Sportskeeda reports, Williams praised the “Jehovah God” after winning her sixth Australian Open title in 2015.
“I have to thank Jehovah God for this. I was down and out and he helped me today and I just said prayers, not to win but to be strong and to be healthy and in the end I was able to come through so I have to give the glory to him first and foremost,” Williams said in 2015.
