Womack Sisters

*The Womack Sisters are the offspring of Linda Cooke-Womack and Cecil Womack (Bobby Womack’s brother).

EUR previously reported that Sam Cooke was 18 and his teenage sweetheart Barbara Campbell Cooke was 13 when they met on the South Side of Chicago and later wed. After Sam’s death in 1964, Barbara went on to marry Sam’s protégé, singer Bobby Womack. She already had a daughter, Linda Cooke, from her prior marriage to Sam. As reported by I Love Old School Music, Bobby had an affair with Barbara’s young daughter Linda (for which he got shot) during their marriage.

Linda ultimately married Bobby’s brother, Cecil Womack, taking on the name Linda Cooke-Womack, per ILOSM. Linda and Cecil had seven children together… and three of them reportedly make up the R&B group The Womack Sisters.

“In short, The Womack Sisters are the children of Linda Cooke-Womack and Cecil Womack. They are also the granddaughters of both Sam Cooke, and his — and Bobby Womack’s — ex-wife, Barbara Cooke. And their Mother’s ex-boyfriend is their uncle, Bobby Womack,” ILOSM writes.

They have reportedly worked with music icons such as the Rolling Stones, Kid Rock, Bonnie Rait, Ozzy Osborne, Annie Lennox, and many more, according to ILOSM.
