Team USA delivered a dominant performance in the women’s gymnastics team final at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Simone Biles, along with her teammates Suni Lee, Jordan Chiles, Jade Carey, and Hezly Rivera, captured the gold medal. After winning the team gold,  Biles now holds the most Olympic medals of any US gymnast in history, adding to her title as the most decorated gymnast of all time.

Despite suffering a minor calf injury during the qualifying round on Sunday, July 28, Biles shone in all four events of the team final—all-around, vault, floor, and beam. This victory marks her eighth Olympic medal, solidifying her status as the most decorated American gymnast of all time.

Chiles competed in all four events, while Lee participated in the all-around, beam, and bars. Carey contributed to the team’s score with her vault performance.

Team USA concluded the competition with a total score of 171.296, securing the gold medal. Italy won the silver, while Brazil earned the bronze.

A crowd that included celebrities like Serena Williams, Spike Lee, Nicole Kidman and Bill Gates erupted in cheers, chanting “U-S-A” as Biles completed her floor routine, capping off Team USA’s outstanding performance.

With the team competition concluded, attention now shifts to the individual finals, beginning on Thursday, August 1.

Biles has the potential to win four additional medals, as she will compete in the all-around, vault, beam, and floor finals. Lee is set to compete in the all-around, beam, and bars, while Chiles will aim for a medal in the floor final, and Carey will compete in the vault final.
