His side-eyed expressions went viral and Collin became known as the \u201cPopeyes Meme Kid.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Collin, now 18, is making headlines once again after recently signing an NIL sponsorship with Popeyes. The fried chicken chain tapped the college football player for a Super Bowl commercial that will air ahead of the big game on Sunday, <a href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/food\/super-bowl-2023-popeyes-meme-kid-dieunerst-collin-commercial-free-fries-pies\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">PEOPLE<\/a> reports.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou might know me, I used to be that meme kid. And now, I\u2019m in Popeyes\u2019 big game ad,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=tM0q2mOdHPY\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">says Collin in the clip<\/a>.\u00a0\u201cIt\u2019s got all of those things those ads have, like a nice ride. Electric, of course. It\u2019s got puppies. And it\u2019s even got my own celebrity meal offer.\u201d <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>As part of Collin\u2019s Side-Eye for Fries &amp; Pies offer, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.popeyes.com\/signup\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Popeyes Rewards customers<\/a> who spend at least $20 on their order will earn 400 bonus points, which are redeemable for fries and a pie on their next order. (Credit: Renata Neumann \/ GUT)<\/p>\n<p>Nearly a decade after he initially went viral, Collin was back in the news in 2021 as the football champion nicknamed \u201cThe Killer Whale\u201d at New Jersey\u2019s East Orange High School, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.the-sun.com\/news\/4224015\/kid-viral-popeyes-meme-unrecognisable\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The Sun<\/a> reported.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/blacktwitter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/080220231675883342-1-428x295.jpg\" alt=\"Ludacris, Doja Cat, Serena Williams, Montell Jordan, Kelis featured in Super Bowl ads\" style=\"position: absolute;top: 0;left: 0;width: 100%;height: 100%;-o-object-fit: cover;object-fit: cover;\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Currently, he is a freshman offensive lineman at Lake Erie College in Ohio. As part of the  Popeyes deal, the company will erect a billboard with Colln\u2019s face on it near his New Jersey hometown and \u201cother fun content to come,\u201d the company said in a press release, according to a separate <a href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/sports\/popeyes-meme-kid-dieunerst-collin-college-football-gets-partnership-deal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">PEOPLE<\/a> report.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>After the 2013 video of young Collin accumulated more than 19 million views, he became a meme and a gif, which Popeyes used in commercials at the time. Social media user Samuel Jean recorded the video of the boy and later admitted to having regrets about posting it.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI know I was 21 and still young and naive,\u201d Jean said in a 2021 interview with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.complex.com\/pop-culture\/dieunerst-collin-samuel-jean-side-eye-popeyes-terrio-kid-meme-interview\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Complex<\/a>. \u201cI look back at it and was like, \u2018What if I\u2019m in his position? How would I feel?\u2019 You got a whole bunch of people coming up to you in school either making fun or thinking it\u2019s cool, but nine out of 10 times, they\u2019re probably making fun of him.
