Y Combinator-backed startup DryMerge has raised $2.2 million in seed funding to bring automation to non-technical users through plain English chat.
Expanding Automation Beyond Programmers
Founded just a year ago, DryMerge initially focused on using AI to automate API integrations for developers. Now, the company aims to simplify repetitive tasks for users without coding experience.
DryMerge allows users to automate workflows via plain English chat, bypassing the complexities of traditional no-code tools like Zapier or Make, which are still primarily used by people with coding experience.
“We’re making the process of ‘automation’ more like a conversation than a complicated head-scratcher,” Co-Founder and CEO Edward Frazer explained in a press release.
DryMerge’s user base includes a wide range of non-technical professionals, from school administrators and small business owners to ministers and asset managers. They use the platform to streamline tasks like CRM data entry, web research, and customer support.
“Most DryMerge users are truly non-technical,” Frazer added, noting that the company’s unique approach saves users hours of manual work each day.
A Small Team with Big Plans
DryMerge is a two-person team: Frazer and his childhood friend Samuel Brashears, who previously worked at Hive AI. “People are very surprised to find out it’s just us,” Frazer admitted.
Small but mighty, the duo participated in YC’s Winter 2024 batch and has now raised $2.2 million in seed funding.
The round included participation from YC, Garage Capital, Goodwater Capital, Ritual Capital, and Breakpoint Capital, and angels like Umur Cubukcu (Citus Data) and JJ Fliegelman (WayUp), Kulveer Taggar (Zeus), and Nate Matherson (Positional) and others.
With the new funding, DryMerge plans to accelerate product development and expand its user base, staying committed to making automation accessible to all.
